Match Day Two - Wash out, here we come.

Match Day Two, to use the popular lingo, saw us again clocking up the miles, flirting with Cambridgeshire, to Baldock.

Stand-in captain and aspiring meteorologist Kam had one eye on the greying heavens and put the opposition in to bat. But, no : maybe it was pure faith in the economic efforts of Bips and Ashul - their combined opening spells going for an austere 21 runs.

Hoping, no doubt, to breathe the country air more easily once they'd seen off this doughty pair, Baldock's 2 and 3 smote the ball around the boundary somewhat, but not the types to be disheartened, our suitable boys of Gognas and Nik Naks ( Nikeal and Ronak for the unaccustomed) soon found the keys to unlock the Baldock.

With the rain pelting down, they soggily subsided to 107 all out, the match then being abandoned.

It was a fine all round fielding performance, characterised by some solid fielding to support the bowling, persistence and determination to the fore. Points gathered and renewed spirit in the bag, and we didn't even stop in the off license on the way back. All as uplifting as the vicar's shirt after beans on toast at the Women's Institute.
