A big win, surely the biggest, recorded by the 3s under Ahsan's or anyone else's captaincy - and all the better for having been achieved by ten players.

Langleybury's second ground is a picturesque one just off the A41 and while the skipper's search for the elusive eleventh player proved fruitless, the search for runs, wickets and the Big 3-Oh proved profitable.

Dr. Thiru (or is it Mr. Thiru) will be kicking himself for missing out, but Inpan and Kamlesh built a top partnership for the second wicket, Kam falling for 31 but Inpan went on to a well deserved 50 (58, 9 x 4). The big hitters followed - Ahsan enjoying 2022 so much more with the bat than 2021 - his 68 with 12 x 4 could have been more but for tiredness after all those big hits. Arjun did a Universe Boss job, had a look at it first, then caressed 4 x 6 and 2 x 4 as his sole scoring shots for 32. Cameos from Sanjay and Nathan - two balls, two fours, and an awful lot of extras took us up to 293-7, with possibly a very mild tinge of disappointment at not reaching 300! 293-7 it was.

Old firm Steve and Gayan enjoyed the swing and G-Man struck with his very first ball, a big away swinger to a leftie. He also took out the other opener LB, while Steve's old county teammate Chris Horne knew what to expect, but did the decent thing and nicked one anyway, to Ahsan's grateful gloves. S & G reduced the home side to 27-7 before a minor rally from the lower order kept us out for a while, with Arjun showing his bowling chops, and claiming a wicket, as did Sanjay, to finish things at 78 all out and a win by 215 runs. Two played, two won!

Gayan's superb figures were 8-0-23-5, Steve's frankly silly ones 6-4-2-3. Well played everyone.
