Totteridge Millhillians Cricket Club Sunday XI v Old Hendon on Sun 19 Jul 2009 at 14:00
Totteridge Millhillians Cricket Club Won by 129 runs

Match report Under grey and threatening skies, Tm's lost the toss, were inserted :-) and made hay while the sun didn't shine, to the great appreciation of the merry band of supporters gathered on the terrace.
Early doors, Messrs Webb and Waters scratched around a bit, but Mikes glove to the keeper lit the blue touchpaper and as Riz came in, the fireworks began. With Kriss accumulating at one end, Riz started the dismantling of the Old Hendon bowling, with some sensible and controlled hitting he raced to an excellent 50 off just 40 balls including seven 4s and one 6. Riz and Kriss both departed with the score on 91, with Kriss managing to paddle a ball from outside leg stump back round his legs and on to middle for the second time this season.
This bought Dinesh and Simon Chapman together with the Captains words "play yourself in use the 20 overs left" still ringing in his ears, Dinesh started carefully, then announced to his batting partner that he "didn't like this ball" and promptly smashed it so far out of the ground, even Nick conceeded a search would be fruitless. This set the tone for the rest of Dinesh's brutal innings of 63 (40 balls - two 6's nine 4s), with Simon just playing a support role in a partnership of 69.
The eventual demise of Dinesh bought 12 year old Aussie guest Jacob Serry to the wicket and Simon now assumed control as Serry knocked the ball around for singles in a well made 24*, Simon built up a controlled assault to finish by smashing the returning opening bowler for 22 runs off the last 5 balls of the innings to achieve a personal total of 73* with eight 4s and 3 massive 6's and set Old Hendon an unlikely target of 255.
Some resolute (and at times very brave) batting by the Old Hendon top order stopped Dinesh (1-23) and Riz (1-8) running riot, but the run rate was soaring and after a brief spell by Neil Dennison (0-36), the spinners were introduced and Arun Madhasaravan (3-11) and Rahul Bhatnagar (2-21) whistled through the middle order, leaving Kamlesh Bharadia (3-4)to put in a cameo bowling performance at the end, as the threatening skies finally delivered the rain.
An excellent win for TM's and huge credit too to Old Hendon who played the game in a great spirit and were happy to stay out for the last few overs as the rain started falling heavily.
