Match report Another excellent Sunday social game saw TM's tie with Matt Crutchlow's Shanty side.
Matt won the toss in this one and decided to bat. After losing his other opener first ball to Roger Luck, Matt settled in to hold the innings together. He battled well and found some support from some big hitters in the middle order, before he eventually succombed to a returning Roger Luck for a battling 44. An excellent direct hit run out by Arun Madhasaravanan, a wicket for Kamlesh Bharadia and two more for Roger Luck including a great running catch by Arun Madhasaravanan meant Shanty were dismissed soon after for a respectable 147.
TM's started solidly in reply with Kamlesh Bharadia scoring quickly and Rob McDougall anchoring at the other end. A fall of three wickets saw Rob go for 7 and Kamlesh for 28, but Sanjay Patnaik (49)and Kit Hutcheson (19) then joined forces to put together what looked like a winning partnership. Despite wobbles, we made in though to 147-7, before Romesh lost his wicket, Parag Shah was bowled by one that almost bounced 3 times, Matt John was dropped fending one of his face and Roger Luck was well caught above his head by the keeper, edging another one that lifted sharply.
All in all though, this was a game no one deserved to lose, played in a great spirit, where everyone got involved.
My big thanks to opposing skipper Matt for making this the game it was and to everyone involved for helping make it a very enjoyable day.
