Match report Well, we had them for the taking, we really did.

Broxbourne II's were 90-odd for 6, with a pair of kids in bat and about 20 overs to go. And we let them off the hook. What happened? The two little buggers only went and bit our collective finger clean off.

We'd toiled hard to get into this good position too, with fine bowling from Low and Alderton (I know, I get sick of typing it every week too). But once again, a period of relaxed cricket let the opposition back into the game.

Grrrrrr. We need to be like lions, ruthless in the kill. Even against kids. In fact, especially against kids.

With their long, lustrous hair, taut torsos and ability to text 300 words a minute, they think they know it all. They need learning. Sadly we couldn't learn these two youngsters what they needed to be teached.

The young buggers put on 95 while we ambled about the outfield, waiting for the tea break to arrive, and the score we needed to chase down ended up being 212 instead of 140.

Sadly, our batting never arrived. 0-2 and 80 all out. Only Kris Waters made any headway with 22.

It appears we could learn a thing or two from 'The Big 'Un' when it comes to the killer instinct, as evinced here:

Mr Leeston-Smith, Somerset, hit W. G. Grace for four successive sixes at Weston-Super-Mare. The umpire, having said 'I'm afraid that's over, Doctor,' was told to shut up. And the seventh ball had him stumped.
