Match report Bad day at the office for TM 3’s: match report brought to you this week by Charles Low.

Tewin 244 for 6. TMCC 3’s 161 for 8 - Drawn

It was one of those days when you just knew all was not comfortable for the league leaders, still basking in the following weeks great win, I think a big lesson was learnt here!!!

We lost the toss and were asked to bowl first which was fine as I would have bowled if we had won the toss.

With a team full of competent bowlers the skipper opened up with trustworthy Alderton and hot shot Navaree. However, after 12 overs with the score rattling along at 6 an over a change was needed. On came Sergeant Graves who took a quick wicket but still went for 6 an over. On came Steph Dare who also took a wicket with some serious F & G but also went for 6 an over. On came the Skipper and was doing at that time a little better at just over 3 an over. On came Wackie Waqs who also took a wicket with a beauty of a cleaned bowled but was also over the statutory(in my eyes) 4 an over. Skip feeling ok that we had a target, before the last over, of 227 to chase down, bowled a cracker, dot, six, six, four, dot , one. Guaranteed to keep the runs down – NOT.

A large total to get but I genuinely felt we had a chance to chase it with past performances!!!

The bad day at the office continued as all hope of a win evaporated as we were 43 off 20 overs. 2 wkts down as well. Chasing 202 to win off 27 overs, to be fair was a tall order. An order too far.

Their opening bowlers performed admirably and a good line and length stalled us. Steph and Kris batted well against an attack that was nothing short of niggling. The TM’s batting performances were not brilliant with last week’s centurion Nathanson playing over, around and under a straight one. Mr Centurion left the office early today. Notable batting performances from Kit Hutcheson, 49 and Neil Dennison 23 were all that the minutes for the office log can really be happy with but mini cameos today were not going to be good enough. It seemed that the office was believing that it as a half day today. At the close on 161 for 8, we were never going to lose, but we didn’t show a team below halfway in the table why we were top. The office laptop’s battery had been running on low and the presentation faulted accordingly.

At the end of the day we are still the only unbeaten team in the Division which is a good sign.....however, as The skip turned off the photocopier and turned all the lights out and locked the front doors, he felt that a draw was a poor result with a game that they deserved to win on the day, having been out played, out thought and out fought by Tewin.

The lesson learned here is that top of the league or not, do not expect it to just happen....to remain top you have to make it happen!!! Let’s not forget that next week.

Damn it I forgot to set the alarm, having just left the office car park....yep just one of those days!!
