Match report Imran and Rizwan see off Stevenage...

On a wet green wicket at Stevenage, TM 2s picked up their third successive victory and with it the vital 30 points but as usual not without the odd scare ...or five!!!

The pre-match plan was to insert Stevenage in , luckily for Imran he won the toss AND the wicket was an old fashioned, uncovered number. Happy days!

With Doug Pyrke and Nozmul Hussain taking the new ball for the TMs, Stevenage were soon on the back foot as the pair took out their top three by the 12th over with the score on 40. Replacing Nozmul was Rizwan Siddiqui and he continued the good work.... and then some, by removing the entire middle order in the space of 19 balls and returned impressive figures of 8-6-10-4.

At this juncture we were informed by the umpires that we were some way behind the over rate, so spin twins Imran and Sameen Khan began to wheel away and despite coming up against a stubborn late order, the pair bowled tightly and ultimately their patience was rewarded as they effected the conclusion of the home team's innings for 121 off 51.3 overs.

Confidence was high as the TMs went out to bat, that confidence was soon , pricked, cut, punctured, slashed and finally deflated as the entire top order was back in the hutch, licking their wounds and leaving the chase in tatters with the score on 21-5 in the 12th over.

As Rizwan and Imran surveyed the wreck of the innings, the salvage experts (a well earned moniker given numerous previous rescue operations, dating back many moons) slowly began to rebuild with a mixture of patience and controlled aggression.

Unfortunately Rizwan (25) was dismissed just as the momentum was switching back to the TMs but Imran (48) continued to work hard and in Sameen (18*) found a partner willing to accompany him all the way.....well almost. With the score on 107-6 and the finishing line in sight, Imran played a tired shot and just missed out on what would have been a well deserved half century by 2 runs; but with just 15 needed, Nozmul Hussain (14*) had seen enough and off the 4 balls he faced, hit two fours and a huge six over long on to finish the match.
