Totteridge Millhillians Cricket Club 2nd XI v Shenley Village on Sat 30 May 2009 at 13:30
Totteridge Millhillians Cricket Club Won by 116 runs

Match report Hussain siblings stun Shenley villagers....

On a balmy summer day in the genteel surroundings of Totteridge Millhillians’ home ground, the Hussain brothers put in a ‘shock and awe’ performance that resulted in a 116 run trouncing of Shenley Village, that when viewed individually was astounding but together, well, virtually indescribable – regardless, let me try.

Imran Khan who had perhaps this season’s strongest 2s batting line up at his disposal was ebullient at having won the toss and had little hesitation in deciding to bat first.

Once again Khan’s top order failed to justify his decision but as the opening bowler for Shenley Village (Wendell Roberts) was a genuine speedster from the Caribbean currently representing St Lucia and the Windward Islands, one must I suppose be charitable on this occasion. At 4-2 the TMs were in a spot of bother however cometh the hour cometh the younger scion of the Hussain clan, a certain Mr Aleem Hussain.

Aleem decided that if TMs were to post a challenging total he would have to bat the majority of the innings, in fact the lad who was celebrating his 25th birthday did far better , he batted until the 53rd over and in the process picked up five stars for ;

1.ramming the juvenile (and as it turned out, far too premature) chirping of the visitors back down their throats
2.ruining the opposition captains bowling figures and in the process losing two balls in the manor copse
3.recording his second ton of the season
4.ensuring maximum batting points for his team
5.being the entire basis for a final total of 223 all out.

Within the sacred halls of Valhalla (aka Totti pav) brooding quietly, as is the time honoured way with the first-borns, Nozmul Hussain reflected that junior had had quiet enough plaudits, by gosh, the game was only half way through, victory was still but a distant dream and he, Hussain the Elder, was going to show whoever cared what it meant to be the biggest boy at the breakfast table during the formative years!

Within four balls of the visitor’s innings, Nozmul began to lay the seeds of destruction for the hapless visitors by uprooting the opener’s off stump. He then went on to pick up an extraordinary four wickets in his next five overs as he ploughed a lone but destructive furrow through the opposition’s top order.

As Nozmul took a breather, Shahrock Navaee picked up the classy No 3 and ex Captain of Barnet Anooj Vadgama and thereby snuffed any last hope that Shenley Village may have had in salvaging the match.

At his juncture Captain Khan glanced over his shoulder and decided that when it’s your day, well it’s your ‘frikkin day innit’ and brought on Aleem Hussain. Birthday boy did not disappoint and promptly picked up two wickets, that triggered various warm up exercises by Nozmul and having stoked the fires of the elder sibling up to the required temperature, Khan decided to bring him back and he duly blasted the tail out and returning (at time of writing) the club’s best bowling figures of 2009; 10.2-0-32-7.

The enemy lay vanquished, their innings a smoking ruin and atop the embers…..brothers-in-arms.
