Match report Not a great result, sadly, though the positives included a League debut for 14-year old Sho Hayter (hs contributions were originally variously attributed to Jeremy Book and Austen Merritt) and a great opening spell by Ollie Ridout.

The Sandridge skipper showed the value of not giving his wicket away, riding out the difficult times and ultimately cashing in; from 25 not out at drinks he ended with 103 not out.

The ball beat the bat with monotonous regularity but nothing went to hand - Ollie reeled off six consecutive maidens but Steve made the breakthrough when Sho held an excellent swirling catch at mid-wicket. Waxy got a nick to Mike behind the timbers, and Jim enjoyed a decent workout, picking up 3 for 49, but the downside of putting them in, even on a difficult track, came to haunt us as we picked up only one bowling point. And that was the good bit.

Sadly the batting, when faced with an attacking spinner and accurate medium pace, collapsed. It's a bit of an indictment when a 14-year old (promising though he may be) plays as well as anyone, but that's how it was. Not a great show guys, things have to get better.
