Match report TM 2s finally playing after 3 weeks, lost their second game of the season with a narrow defeat to Northampton exiles by 2 wickets despite a classy knock of 73 by M Warsi on a difficult pitch.

Having been inserted by the opposition and at 137-3 from 30 overs the TMs looked set to reach 200 plus. The last 7 wickets then fell for just 24 with 4 ducks as as the normally reliable middle/late order completely folded.

Retaining the old ball and employing spin the TMs could not find an early breakthrough as the Exiles made a good start with a 64 run opening partnership. Finally, Rizwan (7-1-28-3)struck to remove both openers and with the spinners belatedly chipping in, the Exiles found themselves at 119-5 with the game still in the balance. Kasim Shamim (18) then batted with good composure despite a double wicket burst by Nozmul (3-1-7-2) before he fell with the scores level.... leaving their non bowling No 9 to score the winning run.

With extras (37) top scoring for the opposition perhaps this could have been a game we should have won but given the batting collapse and some poor fielding , one we certainly did not deserve. 12 points means we are still in touch with the promotion spots so hopefully lessons will be learnt and we look forward to our trip up the M11 to meet Bishops Stortford.
