Potters Bar v Totteridge Millhillians Cricket Club Ladies XI on Sun 23 May 2010 at 1:00pm
Totteridge Millhillians Cricket Club Lost

Match report Ah Potters Bar, the team we demolished following the powerhouse bowling of Kez Caines all those years ago (July 2008 to be exact) and have yet to do the same again. For once captain Z won the toss and opted to bat. Zoe and Pat took to the crease, after one quick single in the first over, Pat came in to face and succumbed to a tasty loopy ball which instead of going for 6, landed on her stumps. Nevermind she had her neice on standby to come in at number 3. After warming up Zoe and Tolly started getting more exciting with thier running and making the most of Toll's natural drive. This lasted to the ninth over when Zoe made the same mistake as Pat and was promptly bowled with 'straight bat' chants whistling in her ears. Emma took to the crease and having an off day decided to leave again two overs later with a duck in hand. Aileen then joined Tolly who was keeping it up the other end and second top scored with 7 runs before being bowled. Bushra our newest recruit (aka Kayleigh Richardson on the bowling figures) made her debut with another duck. Next to fall was our superstar Toll who was getting a bit warm under her helmet (perhaps more to do with the admiring glances from the bowler than having battted for an hour). Ciara and Caz saw the last balls through both leaving with a 'not out'.

So we were left with a defendable 70-7. Caz took the first ball, with Aileen keeping it down the other end. They both did an excellent opening spell, keeping the runs down. Bushra took over from Caz and fired some left handed swing down at the oppo, whilst Emma took over from Aileen with her bleeding knee and got a wicket first ball. Out went the opener and in came the under 23 West Indies international. The fielding was tight and only 6 fours were conceded the entire innings with oppo having to work hard to wheedle out single runs. By the 14th over they'd caught us and match was over. Despite defeat, I was exceptionaly pleased with the effort and the field and the bowlers tight spells - all very promising for the next time we meet the fillies! Oh and Toll remember to 'keep your head over the ball'(hehe).
