Match report Up went the coin, the oppo sadly called right and stuck us in on a soggy minefield of a Ridge wicket. The ball popped horribly off a length for the first 10 overs and accounted for several of the top order. Admittedly there were a few pretty ordinary shots in there too, but we can consider ourselves marginally unlucky.

Jim and Alex attempted to steady the ship, but when Bob gave Jim the finger and Alex's concentration lapsed, we slumped pretty quickly, with only Charlie and PK adding some consolation runs at the end.

A quick turnaround and a plan to go into to tea with 3 wickets already under our belt actually worked - in fact we took 4, with committed fielding, nagging lines and lengths and some good catching allowing us to grab our curries feeling reasonably good about our chances.

But, as is often the case, after the curry the wind changed and the Letchworth #4 saw his side solidly home with the loss of no further wickets despite our best efforts.

A disappointing 4 points from the day was given a silver lining when we checked the tables that evening and realised that we had done exactly the minimum required to ensure the 3rd XI will still be playing Div 6 cricket in 2011.

Good news indeed, but not the sort of celebration the core members of this side had in mind back in April.
